Two foreign tourists tragically lost their lives in separate drowning incidents on June 11, 2025, after allegedly disregarding lifeguard warnings amid dangerous sea conditions.
The first incident occurred at Kata Beach at approximately 3:50 PM, when lifeguards alerted the Karon Municipality Rescue Unit about a foreign tourist found unconscious in the water.
Upon arrival, rescue personnel discovered Mr. Yevgeniy Ksheminskiy, a 41-year-old tourist from Kazakhstan, unresponsive with no pulse. He was later pronounced dead. Authorities have since contacted the Kazakhstani Embassy, and arrangements are being made for his family to retrieve his remains.
The second incident took place at Bang Tao Beach, in Thalang, where another foreign tourist drowned under similar circumstances. Lifeguards attempted to rescue the victim, but unfortunately, the individual succumbed to the strong currents. The name and nationality of this tourist was not released to the press.
Both incidents serve as stark reminders of the dangers posed by Phuket’s powerful monsoon-season waves. Despite warning flags and lifeguard alerts, tourists often underestimate the risks, leading to tragic outcomes. Authorities urge all visitors to heed safety warnings and avoid swimming in restricted areas to prevent further tragedies.
