A 41-year-old Albanian woman drowned just hours after arriving on the island with her husband at Karon Beach.

The Karon Police told the Phuket Express that the accident occurred on June 10th, 2025, around 6:00 P.M.. Police received an emergency call from Chalong Hospital, reporting the drowning of a tourist in the Karon Beach. Upon arriving at the hospital, officers found the deceased in the emergency room, with her devastated husband, 43-year-old Egyptian national Mr. Alsaba, standing nearby in tears.

Mr. Alsaba explained to The Phuket Express that he and his wife, Ms. Idrizi, had arrived in Phuket at 2:00 PM and checked into a hotel in Karon. Just two hours later, they headed to the beach for a swim. However, within 10 minutes, Ms. Idrizi was swept under the waves and disappeared.

Her husband sought help from the lifeguards, who spent nearly an hour searching before locating her unconscious in the water. Emergency responders rushed her to Chalong Hospital, but despite medical efforts, she could not be revived.

Authorities have transferred the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The Albanian embassy has been notified, and arrangements will be made for the repatriation of the deceased to her family for final rites.
