Patong – Authorities in Patong are investigating a suspicious vehicle left abandoned by a foreign national in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The incident was first reported by members of the “Crime-Free Community Project – Patong” group, who alerted police to the unusual circumstances surrounding the car’s abandonment.
At approximately 9:00 AM, Lieutenant Wichayut Damphueak, an investigator from Patong Police Station, received the tip-off about the vehicle, which was parked opposite the entrance to an elephant camp on the road leading to Paradise Beach. The car, a black Toyota Yaris Ativ had both its front and rear plates deliberately obscured, raising suspicions among residents.
Following the report, Lieutenant Wichayut notified Police Colonel Chalermchai Hoernsawat, chief of Patong Police Station, and coordinated with other officers, including Traffic Police and sub-inspectors, to inspect the scene. Witnesses provided information that around 4:00 AM, a male tourist parked the car in the designated spot before being picked up by another unidentified white sedan with an obscured license plate.
Upon examination, authorities found that the vehicle was left unlocked, further intensifying concerns over its sudden abandonment. Investigators are now working to identify the registered owner of the car and determine whether its presence is linked to any unlawful activities.
