Russian National Arrested at Phuket Airport for Alleged Fraud and Cybercrime

A Russian national was arrested at Phuket International Airport, for alleged involvement in fraud and cybercrime under Thai law.

The Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express that earlier this week, the detained individual, a 36-year-old Russian man, was wanted on charges related to alleged public fraud, cybercrime, and electronic transactions. Authorities reported that he allegedly supported fraudulent activities, including deceptive online operations that misled the public.

His charges involve violations of Thailand’s Computer Crimes Act and electronic banking regulations, specifically for allowing illegal access to financial accounts without legitimate intent.

The arrest took place at the international arrivals area of Phuket Airport. After being taken into custody, the suspect was transferred to Surat Thani City Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The Phuket Express noted that officers did not release any other detail. The Russian suspect did not release any statement as of press time.
