Police have apprehended three Myanmar nationals for working without proper authorization following complaints about a mobile phone shop operating in the Downtown Market area.

The Phuket City Police told the Phuket Express that on Wednesday (May 21st) they conducted a raid on a mobile phone shop on Ranong Road in Phuket Town. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals Mr. Aung, 22, Ms. Zin, 23, and Ms. May, 32.

Authorities initiated the investigation after receiving complaints that foreign workers were running the mobile phone shop without proper authorization. Upon inspection, officers found the three individuals inside the shop and conducted a thorough review of their employment documents. It was discovered that they were engaged in work outside the scope of their approved employment permits issued by the Department of Labor.

The suspects were then taken to the investigation room at Phuket City Police Station. They have been charged with “working without a permit or engaging in employment beyond the scope allowed under their work authorization.” The case has now been handed over to investigators for legal proceedings in accordance with Thai labor regulations.
