Phuket –

Police have arrested 16 Chinese nationals for working illegally at a construction site in Patong.

The Phuket Tourist Police told the Phuket Express earlier this week that the suspects were found working and residing within an under-construction building in Patong. Law enforcement officers disguised themselves and conducted surveillance to confirm the illegal activity before proceeding with the raid.

The 16 individuals who hold tourist visas were arrested under charges of working without a permit or engaging in employment beyond their legal rights.

The detainees have been taken to Patong Police Station for legal proceedings. Authorities added that stringent measures will continue to ensure compliance with labor laws, particularly concerning unauthorized foreign workers.
