Officials Inspect Site After Complaints over Alleged Unauthorized Rock Blasting in Rawai

Rawai –

Officials investigated after residents’ complaints regarding the impact of rock blasting at an ongoing construction site on Khok Sun Nai Han Road, Village 2.

Relevant officials told the Phuket Express on Saturday (May 17th) that the construction project had been granted permission for a three-story building, but the project had not received authorization for rock blasting. It was confirmed that an excavation permit was issued, but no approval was given for explosives use. In response, municipal officials have temporarily halted access to the site pending further investigation.

Mr. Thitichai Siamlek, Mueang District’s administrative officer, stated that according to initial findings, no official permit was requested. If violations are discovered, legal proceedings will be initiated. Meanwhile, local authorities will coordinate with the project developers to ensure compliance with regulations.

Deputy Superintendent Police Lt. Col. Chaiwat Chansuwan of Chalong Police Station stated that officers are prepared to take legal action if concrete evidence of unauthorized blasting is presented. However, due to restricted access to the site, further examination remains challenging. Law enforcement expressed concerns that delays in entry may result in the loss of crucial evidence, prompting urgent measures to secure a search warrant.

Later in the day, officials documented their findings in an official report at Chalong Police Station. In response, concerned departments convened to determine legal steps moving forward. Law enforcement will proceed with further action based on applicable regulations.
