Van Driver Electrocuted after Crashe in Wichit

Phuket

An accident claimed the life of a van driver in the early hours of May 15th, when his vehicle lost control and slammed into a roadside utility pole before he was electrocuted in Wichit.

Emergency responders received reports of the crash around 1:20 A.M., on the Thep Anusorn Road, a connecting road between Chao Fah East and West. Upon arrival, they discovered the driver trapped in the wreckage, already deceased.

The van had collided head-on with the pole, leaving the driver, identified as 28-year-old Mr. Thanakorn Pattawong, pinned inside. Rescue teams employed specialized cutting equipment to extract his body, which was later transferred to a local hospital.

Initial investigations suggest that Thanakorn may have been returning home following his daily routine when he possibly succumbed to microsleep, momentarily losing consciousness while driving.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to determine if any other vehicles were involved and will continue their investigation into the circumstances of the fatal crash.
