Phuket Taxi Driver Arrested After Violent Roadside Attack With Golf Club

Phuket –

Phuket police arrested a taxi driver after a road rage incident where he attacked another motorist with a golf club. The violent altercation, which unfolded on a rainy afternoon, was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media.

The Thalang Police told the Phuket Express that the incident took place along Thepkrasattri Road in Thalang, in front of a convenience store. The video showed an SUV driver aggressively confronting a sedan driver after a dispute, allegedly over reckless driving. The SUV driver, later identified as 36-year-old Sathaporn, was seen retrieving a golf club from his vehicle and striking the sedan driver near his head, causing the club to snap upon impact.

Despite the sedan driver remaining passive and trapped between the vehicles, Sathaporn continued to threaten him. Witnesses believe the altercation stemmed from a road dispute, possibly involving one vehicle cutting off the other.

Following the viral spread of the footage, Thalang Police swiftly tracked down Sathaporn at his residence in Sri Sunthorn. Upon arrest, a breathalyzer test revealed his blood alcohol concentration at 293 mg%, far exceeding the legal limit.

Authorities charged Sathaporn with physical assault, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The victim, 38-year-old Kengpong, a local tool salesman, filed a formal complaint, citing injuries and vehicle damages caused by the assault.
