Phang Nga –
Continuous rainfall since the early hours of the morning on Monday (May 12th) has caused widespread flooding in several areas of Phang Nga, particularly in Takua Pa and Thai Mueang Districts. Authorities have mobilized resources to manage traffic disruptions and accelerate drainage efforts in affected regions.
In Takua Pa, officials have deployed traffic cones and stationed local leaders to facilitate movement through flooded roads. The key affected area includes Highway 4, particularly the route from Khao Lak to Bang Niang, where flooding has made travel hazardous. Motorists have been advised to proceed with caution.
Meanwhile, in Thai Mueang, floodwaters have inundated residential areas, particularly along riverbanks and canals, affecting households in Bang Din Village and Lam Phi Subdistrict. Authorities, including local leaders, volunteers, and emergency response teams, are working tirelessly to provide assistance and expedite drainage operations. Residents in at-risk areas have been urged to elevate belongings and stay informed through official updates.
Further north in Khao Lak, the situation remains critical as heavy rains continue to overwhelm the drainage system. Governor Pairat Phet-yuan, accompanied by emergency response officials, conducted site inspections along Phetkasem Road, a major thoroughfare affected by flooding. Emergency pumps have been installed to speed up water removal, and personnel have been assigned to monitor the situation around the clock.
Authorities are calling on travelers to exercise caution when navigating flooded routes, particularly Phetkasem Road, where water levels have significantly impacted traffic flow. Residents can report emergencies via the national safety hotline 1784, which remains operational 24/7.
With more rainfall expected, officials stress the importance of vigilance and preparedness as Phang Nga continues to face ongoing flood challenges.
