Patong –

Rescue workers have recovered the body of an Australian tourist who had been reported missing earlier this week. The deceased, identified only as Mr. Anthony, was found floating in the waters off Freedom Beach.

The Karon Police told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the incident by staff at the Freedom Beach recreation area early on the morning of Saturday (May 10th). Initial examinations indicate that the man had been deceased for approximately three days.

Prior to this discovery, a representative of a local hotel had filed a missing persons report on Friday (May 9th), stating that Mr. Anthony had last been seen on May 7th at Karon Beach, where witnesses claimed he had jumped into the sea and never resurfaced.

Further investigation linked the identification of the recovered body to documents Mr. Anthony had left with a massage parlor employee, confirming the match. Personal belongings and a water bottle labeled with the hotel’s branding were also among the recovered evidence.

Just one day earlier a Polish man also drowned in Phuket and was found near a Kamala Beach.

Earlier this week a young Australian man was rescued from nearly drowning near Racha island.
