UPDATE: Australian Motorbike Rider Sentenced to 15 Days in Jail for Motorbike Stunt in Rawai

Rawai –

A 31-year-old Australian tourist has been sentenced to 15 days in prison for reckless driving after performing dangerous motorbike stunts in Rawai.

Our previous story:

Police have taken action against a foreign tourist caught performing dangerous motorcycle stunts on a public road in Rawai, following outrage from locals and concerns over public safety.

Now for the update:

The Chalong Police told the Phuket Express that the Phuket Municipal Court delivered the verdict yesterday, May 6, after reviewing video footage and eyewitness reports of the incident. The tourist was found guilty of violating traffic laws by lifting the front wheel of his motorbike—commonly known as a “wheelie”—while speeding through the city, endangering pedestrians and other motorists.

He was sentenced to 15 days in jail without suspension, showing that courts are being tougher against numerous recent cases of foreign tourists behaving badly in large tourist areas like Phuket and Pattaya.
