Missing Catamaran Found Anchored at Racha Island in Chalong

Phuket-

Authorities have located a missing catamaran near Koh Racha Noi, confirming the safety of its lone Canadian occupant.

The search began after the Phuket Tourist Police alerted the Maritime Security Operations Center for Region 3 to the disappearance of Mr. Jonn, who set sail from Chalong Bay on May 3rd.

His intended destination was Koh Racha Yai, with possible stops at Western Bay, Bungalow Bay, or Ao Khon Kae. However, communication was lost, prompting relatives to request assistance through the Canadian Embassy.

Preliminary tracking efforts pinpointed the last known coordinates of the vessel west of Koh Racha Yai on the morning of May 4. Radio attempts to establish contact proved unsuccessful.

Later that evening, the Phuket Regional Marine Office, confirmed receiving a report from Mr. Jonn, stating that the catamaran had been spotted anchored at Koh Racha Noi since noon. The sole man aboard was found to be in good condition and capable of tending to himself, including securing the boat to a mooring buoy.
