The Ministry of Culture, through the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC), has announced the second group of 15 Thai and international artists selected for Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025. The international contemporary art festival will take place from November 2025 to April 2026 under the theme “Eternal Kalpa,” exploring impermanence, love, and sustainability through nature-inspired works.
This new group joins the previously announced 30 participants, bringing the current total to 56 of the planned 65 artists. The latest additions include individual artists and collectives such as Alex Monteith & Maree Sheehan (Auckland), Ayoung Kim (Seoul), Koneksi Tamalanrea (Tamalan), Maline Yim (Siem Reap), Oat Montien (Bangkok), Oliver Laric (Berlin), Pauline Curnier Jardin & Feel Good Cooperative (Marseille), Saroot Supasuthivech (Bangkok), Serene Hui (Netherlands and Hong Kong SAR), Supapong Laodheerasiri (Bangkok), Supitcha Tovivich (Bangkok), Thuy Tien Nguyen (Hanoi and Frankfurt), Wilawan Wiangthong (Loei), Wu Chi-Yu (Taipei), and Zhao Yao (Beijing).
Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025 blends international collaboration with local engagement to generate sustainable economic value and nurture regional creative industries, promoting the province’s status as a “City of Creative Art.
Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat reaffirmed the province’s cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and OCAC to support the event. Ongoing preparations include community engagement, artist site visits, and coordination to host installations across all three districts of the island.
Artistic directors Arin Rungjang and David Teh stated that participating artists are developing site-specific works inspired by Phuket’s history and natural surroundings. A series of collateral events will also be held to welcome wider participation from the global contemporary art community.
