Phuket Condo Left in Ruins After Rental By Ukrainian Tenant

Phuket –

A Phuket condo owner was left in disbelief after discovering extensive damage to their rental unit, allegedly caused by a Ukrainian tenant. The aftermath revealed a severely vandalized space, leaving behind destruction estimated at 350,000 baht in damages.

The condo unit, located in Wichit, had been rented out under a one-year agreement from April 15th, 2024, to April 15th, 2025. However, once the contract expired, the tenant allegedly failed to vacate as expected, continuing to occupy the property without renewal or explanation, according to the landlord Attempts to reach the tenant for clarification went unanswered.

On April 29th, the tenant finally sent a message to the property caretaker, stating that she had moved out and discarded the key in a trash bin. Upon gaining entry, the caretaker—accompanied by security personnel and a locksmith—was met with an unsettling sight:

  • Widespread destruction throughout the unit, including damaged furniture and broken appliances.
  • Graffiti covering the walls and ceiling, including vulgar imagery and crude symbols.
  • Total disregard for the property, reducing a once-luxurious condo into near-ruins.

Following the shocking discovery, the caretaker proceeded to file an official police report at Wichit Police Station, demanding accountability for the tenant’s reckless actions. Legal measures are now being considered to seek reparations for the extensive damage caused. The tenant and landlord had previously reportedly been debating over certain fees and costs but the landlord stressed that any sort of verbal debate didn’t justify this action.
