PHUKET-
An Australian tourist has died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Patong early Thursday morning (May 1st). The incident occurred in front of his wife, with police suspecting intoxication as a contributing factor.
Police and rescue personnel were alerted to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the 59-year-old man identified only as Mr. Collins, lying unconscious on the ground. He was shirtless, wearing only black shorts, and struggling to breathe. Emergency responders performed CPR before rushing him to Patong Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr. Collins and his wife had been staying at the hotel since April 29th, with plans to check out on May 2nd. On the night of the incident, the couple had gone out for drinks at Patong Beach before returning to their hotel in the early morning. Minutes later, witnesses heard a loud thud, leading them to discover Mr. Collins critically injured on the ground floor.
According to his wife’s statement, Mr. Collins appeared unsteady while walking up the stairs ahead of her. As she reached the first floor, she reportedly saw him stumble and fall backward, landing on the ground below.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Further inquiries will be made before coordinating with the Australian Embassy for legal proceedings.
