Australian Man Arrested for Reckless Motorcycle Stunt in Rawai

Rawai –

Police have taken action against a foreign tourist caught performing dangerous motorcycle stunts on a public road in Rawai, following outrage from locals and concerns over public safety.

The Chalong Police told the Phuket Express about the incident over the past weekend before midnight. A 32-year-old Australian national, identified only as Mr. Daher, was spotted executing a wheelie on a motorbike on the Wiset Road. The reckless display was captured on video and posted by a popular local news page, sparking discussions about road safety and tourist behavior.

The Chalong Police, including patrol, investigative, and traffic units, launched an inquiry to track down the suspect. The next day, they had successfully identified Mr. Daher and instructed the owner of the motorcycle to bring him to the police station for questioning.

Mr. Daher arrived at the station, where authorities seized the motorcycle as evidence and forwarded the case to investigators. He now faces charges under Thailand’s traffic laws, including “reckless driving likely to endanger persons or property” and “driving without regard for the safety or distress of others.”
