British Driver Crashes Into Restaurant and Home in Wichit, Says Was Trying to Avoid Hitting a Cat

PHUKET –

An accident in Wichit district caused extensive damage to a local restaurant and homes after a British driver swerved to allegedly avoid a cat crossing the road on Sunday (April 27th).

The Wichit Police told the Phuket Express that the accident occurred in the early morning, and resulted in two injuries. Emergency responders received an emergency call reporting that a white BMW sedan had crashed into a papaya salad restaurant on the Kwang Road, continuing its trajectory into an adjacent residential property.

The driver, identified only as Mr. Jack, 50, British national, reportedly lost control of his vehicle when a cat ran across the road, forcing him to swerve. The sudden maneuver caused his luxury sedan to veer off course, colliding with the restaurant and further damaging the attached residence.

He had sustained minor injuries, while his passenger, Mr. Danielle, 48, British national, suffered bodily injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment

The Wichit Police coordinated with a hospital to conduct blood alcohol testing on the driver, with results pending. The vehicle’s insurance provider has been contacted to oversee damage assessment and facilitate compensation for the restaurant and homeowners.
