The Tourist Police Division 3, along with officials from the Southern Region 2 Tour Guides and Travel Business Registration Office, conducted operations to arrest four individuals violating the Tourism Business and Guide Act this week.

The Tourist Police Division 3 told the Phuket Express that two illegal Russian tour guides were caught in separate locations:

  1. One Russian national was arrested while working as a tour guide without a license at Laem Tukkae Public Beach, Rassada, Phuket.
  2. Another Russian national was detained at Ban Hin Rom Pier, Klong Kian, Takua Thung, Phang Nga, also unlawfully working as a tour guide.

Additionally, two travel companies were found operating in violation of regulations at Wat Khao Khok Kloi Waterfall, Takua Thung, Phang Nga. They were charged with:

  • Failing to issue proper tour guide assignments.
  • Not submitting assignment records for verification before conducting tours.
  • Failing to provide licensed tour guides as required by law.

All arrested individuals have been handed over to authorities for legal proceedings, reinforcing the commitment to protecting local jobs and ensuring lawful tourism operations.

The Phuket Express notes that tour guides are a protected occupation in Thailand and that work permits and visas are unavailable to foreigners for this job.
