UPDATE: Capsule Hotel in Karon Imported from China, But Not Owned by Chinese Investors, Legality Being Reviewed

Phuket –

The alleged unauthorized capsule hotels in Karon were found imported from China but not owned by Chinese investors.

Our previous story:

Authorities in Phuket have launched an investigation following complaints circulating on social media regarding a construction project in Karon that may have proceeded without proper authorization.

UPDATE:

It has been reported that the hotel is being built with prefabricated capsules imported from China. However, local authorities have clarified that the project is not owned by Chinese investors.

The development has raised concerns due to heavy rainfall, which has caused sediment and sand runoff to spread onto public roads and nearby residences. Residents fear that inadequate prevention measures could result in landslides in the area.

In response, Karon Subdistrict Headman Winai Chidchiew has ordered a temporary halt to the construction until proper environmental safeguards are put in place. Officials are now assessing whether the project complies with construction regulations and safety standards to prevent further disruptions to the community.

As scrutiny intensifies, residents are urging authorities to enforce stricter regulations for hillside developments to mitigate environmental risks and protect public safety.
