Phuket –
Phuket is set to host the Crisis Management Exercise (C-MEX 25), a national disaster preparedness drill focused on tsunami response, from June 24th to 27th, 2025.
The exercise, organized by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), aims to enhance emergency management, foster interagency coordination, and build public confidence in disaster response capabilities across six Andaman coastal provinces.
On April 22nd, a preparatory meeting was held at the DDPM office in Phuket, chaired by Mr. Wichit Sutthoso, Head of the Phuket Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office. Officials from various government agencies convened to discuss readiness strategies, covering personnel deployment, logistical arrangements, and operational protocols.
C-MEX 25 will feature hands-on drills simulating tsunami scenarios at five key training stations: early warning and evacuation procedures, search-and-rescue operations, emergency medical response, the establishment of temporary shelters, and water-based rescue missions. In addition to these practical exercises, demonstration sessions will showcase advanced disaster response techniques.
