Phuket Governor Inspects Road Expansion Project to Ease Traffic Congestion

Phuket–

The Governor Sophon Suwanrat, alongside Public Works Director Prapit Nupech and other officials, conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing road expansion and improvement project behind Tha Ruea Temple in Si Sunthon, Thalang.

The initiative aims to widen the roadway to accommodate increasing traffic volumes, ensuring smoother and safer travel for motorists. The upgraded route is expected to serve as an alternative bypass for commuters, potentially fixing congestion in central Phuket and enhancing access to Phuket International Airport.

As part of the project, additional land has been acquired to expand the entrance road to a width of 10 meters, allowing for more efficient traffic flow. This expansion has been made possible through collaboration with private stakeholders, notably Laguna Phuket, which contributed 3,870,000 THB to facilitate land procurement and road infrastructure improvements.

Officials added that the project marks a large step toward addressing Phuket’s growing traffic challenges. By providing an alternative route, authorities hope to reduce pressure on main roads while promoting safer and more convenient travel for residents and visitors alike.
