Phuket –
Authorities in Phuket have launched an investigation following complaints circulating on social media regarding a construction project in Karon that may have proceeded without proper authorization.
At 2:00 PM yesterday, April 21st, Dr. Somkid Chokong, advisor to the Phuket Governor, along with Mr. Wattanapong Suksai, Director of the Phuket Office of Natural Resources and Environment, and officials from relevant agencies, conducted an on-site inspection in response to concerns raised by local residents.
Reports indicate that construction activities in the area may not have undergone the required legal approval, leading to soil erosion and sediment being washed onto nearby roads. This has raised concerns about potential environmental damage and risks to infrastructure.
Officials thoroughly examined the site, gathering information to assess whether any violations had occurred. The matter will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for further action. Additionally, the investigative team will coordinate with Karon Municipality to verify whether construction permits were properly issued. Should any legal breaches be identified, authorities have assured that strict action will be taken.
The public is encouraged to report any irregularities related to construction projects to ensure compliance with environmental and urban planning regulations.
