Thailand Sums Up 253 Deaths in Songkran Seven Days of Road Safety Campaign

Thailand –

A total of 1,538 road accidents, with 1,495 injuries and 253 deaths were reported on Friday (April 18th) by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) during the ‘Seven Days of Road Safety Campaign’ during Songkran (April 11th – April 17th) 2025.

The Province with the highest total amount of fatalities was Bangkok with 19 deaths. The highest number of accidents and injuries were Phatthalung with 63 and 61, in southern Thailand.

Most accidents were caused by excessive speeding and followed by drunk driving. Most of the accidents involved motorcycles and occurred on highways between 3:01 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
