Patong –

Patong Patong have apprehended a suspect in connection with a snatch and grab incident involving an Australian tourist couple.

The incident occurred around 8:45 A.M. during the recent Songkran period. A couple was walking along the beachfront road and a suspect approached them on a motorcycle and snatched the female tourist’s handbag, which contained valuables including AUD 300 and a smartphone before fleeing the scene.

On the same day, investigators successfully apprehended the suspect—a 42-year-old Thai national—at an intersection in the Talad Yai area in Phuket Town. Evidence recovered from the suspect included AUD 200 in cash and the stolen smartphone.

He has been handed over to investigators at Patong Police Station. The suspect now faces charges of robbery using a vehicle to facilitate the crime and evade capture.
