Krabi, Thailand – April 15, 2025 – A 26-year-old Welsh man has been located after vanishing on Thailand’s popular Phi Phi Island, sparking widespread concern and media coverage in the United Kingdom. The tourist, whose identity was disclosed as Daniel (last name withheld), was reported missing by relatives under unclear circumstances, prompting speculation and a flurry of reports in British media outlets. Krabi Authorities confirmed he was found safe at a hostel in Krabi, and was perfectly fine.

Phi Phi Island, famous for its turquoise waters and nightlife, attracts thousands of international visitors annually, particularly young travelers seeking adventure.
Thai authorities have urged visitors to stay in regular contact with family or friends and to share travel itineraries as a precaution. “We are relieved he is safe,” said a spokesperson for the Krabi police. “We encourage all tourists to take basic safety measures to avoid such situations.”

British consular officials have been notified, though no statement has been released many questions unanswered.

Daniel did not specifically release a statement about why he chose not to contact his family or people looking for him in the UK, other than Thai police adding to say he was safe, mentally sound, and was making his own decisions as a legal adult. It was unclear if Daniel had spoken to or contacted relatives who had started an international media campaign looking for him, other than his statements through the police.
