Tremors Felt in Minor Krabi Earthquake

Krabi –

A 3.5-magnitude earthquake shook parts of Krabi on Monday (April 14th), causing noticeable tremors in buildings across the region. The quake, which struck at 2:27 P.M. local time had a depth of 2 kilometers and was centered in Nuea Khlong.

Residents in Nuea Khlong and Krabi city reported feeling the tremors distinctly, prompting evacuations in several locations, including Krabi Provincial Hall and shopping centers in the city. Office workers and shoppers were seen gathering outside buildings as a precaution.

Despite the noticeable shaking, initial reports indicate no significant damage or injuries. However, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Krabi has dispatched officials to assess potential damage to structures, homes, and key infrastructure while closely monitoring the situation.

Krabi has experienced earthquakes twice in the past decade. The previous one, linked to movement along the Marui Fault, did not result in reported damage.

Officials urge residents to stay informed through official channels and to take necessary precautions, such as avoiding unstable structures and staying aware of potential aftershocks.
