Fire Erupts in Karon, Engulfs Restaurant Sign and Motorcycles

Phuket–

A fire broke out in the early hours of the morning earlier this week along Karon Beach, rapidly engulfing electrical cables, internet wires, and a prominent restaurant sign before spreading to parked motorcycles. Emergency responders managed to contain the blaze, but the full extent of the damage remains under review.

The Karon Police received reports of flames consuming utility wires atop a power pole outside the Burger King branch in Karon. The fire spread quickly, igniting the restaurant’s sign and four motorcycles parked along the roadside. Officials coordinated with Karon Municipality firefighters, who rushed to the scene to prevent further destruction.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found the fire raging across the utility pole and restaurant signage, with intense flames reaching nearby vehicles. Firefighters worked fast and were able to extinguish the blaze within 30 minutes, ensuring it did not spread further into surrounding businesses or residential areas. While no injuries were reported, several properties suffered fire-related damage.

Local restaurant owner Ms. Chidkamol, who witnessed the fire unfold, described how the flames first erupted at the electrical wires before spreading. “It happened so quickly,” she remarked. “Thankfully, the firefighters arrived in time to stop it before more damage occurred.”

Authorities are currently figuring out the total cost of the destruction and investigating the cause of the fire. Early reports suggest an electrical short circuit may have triggered the blaze, though officials have yet to confirm the source.
