National —

Thailand has welcomed more than 10 million international visitors so far this year, generating over 486 billion baht in revenue as European school holidays and upcoming Songkran festivities fuel a surge in arrivals.

Tourism and Sports Minister Mr. Sorawong Thienthong revealed that more than 10 million international tourists visited Thailand between January 1st and April 6th, 2025. During the past week, tourist numbers rose notably due to school holidays in several European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, resulting in a 9.97% increase in long-haul travelers.

Tourists from the UK saw the highest week-on-week growth, jumping by 36.97%. In total, 601,616 international visitors entered Thailand during the week, an increase of 16,765 people or 2.87% from the previous week.

The top five countries of origin for international tourists were Malaysia with 92,262 visitors, followed by China with 64,177, Russia with 44,639, India with 37,161, and the United Kingdom with 35,098 visitors.

UK and Malaysian arrivals increased by 36.97% and 12.80% respectively, while tourists from India, Russia, and China declined by 9.72%, 8.35%, and 1.25%.

Looking ahead, foreign tourist numbers are expected to rise further, driven by factors such as the ongoing European school holidays and the upcoming Songkran festival.

As of April 7, 2025, the total number of international tourists since the start of the year stood at 10.07 million people, generating approximately 486.6 billion baht in revenue.
