Five Indians Arrested for Illegally Working at Phuket Construction Site

Phuket –

Five Indian nationals and a Thai national were arrested during an operation conducted by the Royal Thai Police and the Immigration Bureau from April 7th– April 11th.

The focus was on criminal enforcement regarding foreign nationals, including arrest warrants, illegal entry, visa overstays, nominee practices, and violations of immigration, criminal, and foreign labor laws.

The Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express that six people were apprehended:

  1. MR. GHANSHYAM (Indian National)
  2. MR. RUPESH (Indian National)
  3. MR. RAMPRAVESH (Indian National)
  4. MR. SACHIN (Indian National)
  5. MR. HARJINDER (Indian National)
  6. Ms. Orapuma (Thai National)

The Indian nationals were charged with working without a valid work permit, while the Thai national faced charges for employing foreign workers without a proper work permit.

Upon further investigation, the arrested suspects admitted to accepting construction jobs at various sites without proper authorization. The Indian nationals held tourist visas, which were never converted into work permits, thus violating labor laws.

Following their arrests, authorities informed them of their rights and charges before documenting the case and handing it over to the Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
