British Man Arrested for Assault and Theft in Thalang-VIDEO

On Tuesday (April 8th) Phuket Immigration apprehended a British national in connection with an assault and theft case at a local grocery that recently gained attention on social media.

The video clip from CCTV footage at the local grocery was posted on the Newshawk Phuket local news Facebook page.

Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express that the suspect, identified only as Mr. George, 40, British national, was arrested after an investigation revealed his involvement in an incident in the Ban Mueang Mai area of Thalang. According to reports, Mr. George allegedly assaulted a local resident and stole personal belongings before fleeing the scene.

The case drew massive concern from the community after footage of the incident was widely shared online, prompting legal action. The Phuket Provincial Court later issued an arrest warrant against Mr. George on charges of theft.

Following his escape, immigration and local law enforcement officials tracked the suspect’s movements. He was finally taken into custody after authorities traced his whereabouts.

Law enforcement officials noted that the suspect had a history of engaging in disputes and committing theft, causing distress to residents in the area. Mr. George, 40 admitted to the crime, stating that he fled due to fear of legal consequences after realizing that locals had recorded video evidence of his actions.

Police are continuing their investigation into whether the suspect is linked to other offenses in the region. He remains in custody as legal proceedings move forward.
