Phang Nga–
A 28-year-old male driver was arrested by the Phang Nga Highway Police for allegedly using counterfeit official documents, including fake license plates and a fraudulent tax registration sticker. The incident occurred on National Highway 4 in Thai Chang, Mueang Phang Nga over the past weekend.
The arrest was carried out by officers from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and the Highway Police Division. During the operation, authorities seized a sedan, the fake license plate, and a fraudulent tax sticker.
The investigation began after a victim reported that a vehicle resembling theirs, including matching license plate numbers, was spotted in the area. Officers tracked the movements of the suspect’s vehicle to both Phang Nga and Phuket. When the car was finally located on National Highway 4, officers ordered the driver to stop and conducted an inspection.
Upon further investigation, the car was confirmed to have forged license plates and other fraudulent documentation. The suspect, identified only as Mr. Sor (alias), denied all allegations but admitted to purchasing the vehicle through an unidentified individual on Facebook for 400,000 baht approximately 5–6 months ago. He further claimed that he was aware the car was a “finance-evaded” vehicle and that the counterfeit documents were provided with the purchase.
The suspect has been handed over to investigators at the Takua Thung Police Station for further legal proceedings.
