Fourteen Youths Detained in Wichit for Street Racing

Wichit –

On Wednesday in the early morning (April 2nd), the Wichit Police launched a dedicated operation to tackle illegal street racing in the area. The operation, carried out around Laem Dinsor and Ao Yon, resulted in the detention of 14 youths under the age of 18 and the confiscation of nine illegally modified motorcycles.

During the crackdown, law enforcement officers summoned the guardians of the detained youths to inform them about their children’s actions and the potential legal consequences. Police also invoked relevant legal provisions under the 2003 Child Protection Act, with cases forwarded to investigators at Wichit Police Station for further legal proceedings.

The Wichit Police stated that the issue of illegal street racing by gangs of youths under the age of 18 continues to cause disruption to the local community, particularly late at night.

In addition to enforcement, the police are collecting detailed intelligence about local gangs and monitoring their activities to prevent future crimes. The information gathered will aid in both proactive crime prevention measures and investigative efforts to address emerging threats in the community.
