Phuket –
A 77-year-old male Argentinian ended his life by hanging himself from his room at a Phuket accommodation on Tuesday (March 25th).
Authorities were notified of the incident at approximately 10:40 AM by staff at a hotel located in Rassada. The Phuket City Police Station with medical personnel from Wachira Phuket Hospital, and rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Foundation swiftly arrived at the hotel.
Upon arrival at the seventh-floor balcony, the responders found the deceased, identified only as Mr Roberto, 77, Argentinian. A chair was positioned near the balcony railing, which appeared to have been used in the act. A self-inflicted wound on his left wrist was also seen.
Police found some reports that indicate that Mr. Roberto had previously been transported to Mission Hospital Phuket on Monday (March 24th) following a suicide attempt. A review of CCTV footage confirmed that no other individuals entered his room prior to the incident. Authorities found no signs of struggle or theft within the accommodation.
The case is being handled with sensitivity, and the Argentinian embassy in Thailand has been notified to assist in contacting the deceased’s family. Investigators suggest that Mr. Roberto may have been grappling with unresolved personal issues or health concerns that led to his death.
