Police Detain Five Foreign Women and Two Thais on Bangla Road for Suspected Prostitution

Patong –

Five foreign women and two Thais were detained and had their personal details recorded after the Patong Police held a crackdown on people suspected of engaging in prostitution-related activities.

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that on Thursday in the early morning (March 20th) they conducted a normal inspection on the Bangla Road to make sure of public safety.

Four Ugandan women, a female Nigerian, and two Thai women were apprehended and briefly detained during a targeted crackdown. They were taken to the Patong Police Station. Their personal details have been recorded in the Patong Police system but as they were not actually caught doing anything illegal and the foreigners were not on overstay, they were released.

This is part of a national crackdown to prevent any negative action related to maintaining public order and potential violations of Thailand’s prostitution and immigration laws.
