Lithuanian Tourist Dies after Tree Falls on Him in Thalang

A Lithuanian rider has been pronounced dead after a tree fell onto him in Thalang on Thursday (March 20th).

Emergency responders told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the accident before noon near the Nai Thon Beach in Sakoo. Witnesses told them that a pine tree branch broke and fell onto a male Lithuanian, 43, who was riding a motorcycle along the beach road. He was wearing a helmet but it shattered from the impact of the tree.

The victim, whose name was withheld pending contact to his embassy and family, was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports indicate that the tourist was staying in the Nai Yang area. The body of the deceased has been transported to the Vachira Phuket Hospital for further processing.
