UPDATE: British Woman Still Missing after Boat Fire Near Koh Tao

A female British national has been confirmed missing, but not yet confirmed dead, after a boat fire near Koh Tao in Surat Thani on Sunday (March 16th).

Our previous story:

A boat carrying over 28 tourists on a diving trip caught fire. One British tourist has an unclear status with some media claiming they are missing and others stating they passed away, without clear confirmation as of press time.

Now for the update:

The Royal Thai Navy confirmed the woman as missing on Monday (March 17th). After the rescue operation, they checked the list of people who were on the boat before the fire. There was a total of 22 people on board, consisting of the following: two crew members, two diving instructors, two assistant diving instructors, and 16 tourists (diving students).

However, one of them was missing and identified only as Ms. Alexandra, 27, British national. Authorities have organized a search team to locate the missing person as of press time.
