Nigerian Man Arrested with Cocaine in Kamala, Phuket, Swiss Man Involved

Kamala, Phuket – A Nigerian national was arrested on drug charges in Kamala this week after a viral social media video exposed illegal activity, according to local authorities.

The Kamala Police reported to the Phuket Express that on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 3:00 P.M., they apprehended Mr. Chimaraoke, a 32-year-old Nigerian, at the entrance of the Kamala Police Station. The arrest followed the circulation of a video clip on social media showing two foreign males using drugs on a roadside, which sparked widespread attention online.

Mr. Chimaraoke faces charges of illegal possession of Category 2 drugs after police seized 0.82 grams of cocaine from him. During questioning, he confessed to selling cocaine to Mr. Sascha, a Swiss national implicated in the same incident.

Mr. Sascha, who later viewed the viral video, contacted authorities and admitted to being one of the individuals depicted. A drug test confirmed he had cocaine in his system. He has agreed to undergo treatment as part of the legal process.

Kamala Police are continuing their investigation, and both suspects remain in custody as proceedings move forward.
