Patong, March 7th, 2025 – A bewildering case of a “stolen” motorbike in Patong was resolved this week after a French tourist, baffled by its disappearance, sought police assistance—only to later realize he had simply forgotten where he parked it.
The incident began earlier this week when the male French tourist filed a report with the Patong Police, claiming his motorbike had been stolen from a parking area near a pier in Patong. According to the Phuket Express, the tourist was adamant that he had left the vehicle in the designated spot, prompting police to launch an investigation. Authorities promptly reviewed CCTV footage from the pier area to trace the missing motorbike and identify any potential suspects.
After a three-day search, the Patong Police located the motorbike—intact and undisturbed. However, in a surprising twist, the police did not disclose the exact location where it was found or how far it was from the original parking area reported by the tourist. Upon being reunited with his vehicle, the Frenchman admitted to police that it had not been stolen after all. He confessed that, in his confusion, he had simply forgotten where he parked it.
Expressing gratitude, the tourist thanked the Patong Police for their diligent efforts in resolving the matter. The police, in turn, chose not to release the name or age of the individual, keeping his identity confidential.
The unusual case has left locals and authorities amused, serving as a reminder of the occasional mix-ups that can occur in the bustling tourist hub of Patong. The police have since closed the matter, with no further action required.
