Thai Woman Stabbed to Death In Front of Shocked Tourists at Restaurant on Phi Phi Island

Krabi – A 41-year-old Thai woman was fatally stabbed by a neighboring business owner that she had allegedly had an ongoing series of verbal disputes with while cooking food at a restaurant on Phi Phi Island.

Emergency responders were notified of the incident at 1:40 PM on Thursday, February 27th, at a restaurant in a market in the middle of Phi Phi Island, Ao Nang. Upon arrival, rescue workers found the victim, identified only as Ms. Tatphicha, 41, from Samut Prakan, severely injured and covered in blood with a deep cut wound on her neck. She was rushed to Koh Phi Phi Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.

The suspect, identified only as Mr. Khananart, 27, from Krabi, was immediately arrested by law enforcement with a 30-centimeter-long knife. He owns a drink shop next door to the restaurant.

CCTV footage from the restaurant clearly shows the incident. Ms. Tatphicha was cooking while three foreign customers were inside. The suspect entered the restaurant, running inside, shoved another patron near her out of the way, and stabbed her in front of the customers, who fled the scene in fear. Several Good Samaritans immediately responded and detained the suspect for police.

Co-workers of the victim stated that the suspect and Ms. Tatphicha had several previous conflicts and argued verbally before the attack. It was not clear what the disagreement was regarding and police were reportedly further investigating the shocking incident as of press time.

Khananart remained in custody at a local police station facing numerous charges relating to murder.
