Phuket Police Bust Chinese Couple in Luxury Villa, One Overstayed for 1,317 Days

Phuket, February 25th, 2025 – at around 3:00 PM, Phuket police arrested a Chinese couple living in a luxury villa in Chalong for overstaying and illegal entry.

Zhongyu Wang, 29, had overstayed his visa by 1,317 days, while Chun Chen, 31, had been banned from re-entering Thailand but had secretly returned via Malaysia, according to the police.

Authorities began investigating after reports of a wealthy Chinese couple with no clear source of income owning multiple luxury cars, including a Mercedes-Benz and a Toyota Alphard.

During a raid, both failed to provide valid travel documents. Biometric checks confirmed Wang’s visa expired in 2020, while Chen had been prohibited from entry since November 2024.

Police charged both suspects and transferred them to Chalong Police Station for legal proceedings. Authorities urge the public to report suspicious activities to help maintain security in Phuket.
