A 60 year-old female American was arrested at the Phuket International Airport with 4.3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine heading to Singapore and onwards to South Korea.
Phuket Immigration at the Phuket International airport told the Phuket Express that on Sunday (February 23rd) at 8:30 P.M. they arrested a suspect identified only as Ms. Melba, 64, an American national. She was found with 4.3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in her luggage after being x-rayed. She was heading to Singapore to continue her flight onwards to South Korea.
The arrest came after officers received a tip-off via an anonymous call from a concerned citizen that the suspect was carrying a large amount of illegal drugs via the airport. She was taken to the Sakoo Police Station to face the charge of exporting illegal category 1 drugs from the country and illegal possession of category 1 drugs.
The American suspect has denied the charges and claimed she didn’t know about the drugs. She did not release any further statement as of press time.
