At 11:00 PM on February 20th, 2025, Phuket police raided an illegal gambling den at the Phuket Poker Sport Club in Mueang district, arresting 13 Chinese nationals and one Thai citizen.
Officers seized four poker tables, two fish gambling machines, five electric mahjong tables, and casino chips worth 1.03 million baht, along with 32 other gambling-related items.
The operation was part of a nationwide crackdown on illegal foreign businesses and transnational crime. Authorities had been investigating the site after receiving intelligence that a Chinese-backed group was running an illicit casino, with a Thai national overseeing operations.
The building was heavily monitored with multiple CCTV cameras to track activities inside. Police are now expanding their investigation to identify other individuals involved.
