A driver was fined after allowing a foreigner to drive a Tuk Tuk taxi in Patong.
The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that on Thursday (February 20th) photos of a foreigner driving a Tuk Tuk taxi in Patong went viral on local social media. The Patong Police told the Phuket Express at 4:00 P.M. they called the Tuk Tuk owner to come and speak to them after tracking him down from the viral footage and license plate number.
The unidentified female driver told police that the foreigner said he is also a taxi driver in his country and that he wanted to drive the Tuk Tuk by himself. The Tuk Tuk driver sat on the passenger seat during this period and she let him drive for only about one kilometer before she changed back to the driver seat.
The Tuk Tuk taxi driver is facing charges of allowing others who do not have a legal driving license to drive a vehicle. The Phuket Express noted that the Patong Police did not mention if they are tracking down the foreigner.
