Patong –
A French man was arrested in Patong for illegally selling nitrous oxide (laughing gas).
The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that on Sunday (February 16th), they arrested a 30 year-old French man in front of a house on the 50 Pi Road. Seized from him were 23 buckets of nitrous oxide weighing 2,100 grams each.
The arrest came after police received a tip off from a concerned citizen that the French suspect was illegally selling nitrous oxide to tourists, with the tipper saying he was concerned for the health of anyone doing laughing gas. Police then operated a sting operation to buy three buckets from the suspect. Police seized 20 more buckets at the suspects accommodation.
The suspect was taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of selling a controlled substance (nitrous oxide) without legal authorization.
The suspect was not named by police nor did they give a statement to the press.
