Thalang– A Thai female driver reportedly suffering from depression crashed a pickup truck into multiple vehicles along roads in Thalang with her child inside.
A video clip of a white pickup truck driving and crashing into several vehicles went viral on social media on Thursday, February 12th. The video shows a security guard using a ladder on the back of the pickup truck to hit the driver’s side window, where a man was standing on the tray. Despite breaking both windows, the driver continued driving. The man later jumped down, got on a motorbike, and followed the pickup truck.
The pickup truck was eventually stopped near the Phuket Provincial Prison (Bang Jo Prison) in Baan Bang Jo, Sri Soonthorn, due to a flat tire. Inside the truck, only a three-year-old boy was found, and the driver had escaped.
Police and emergency responders were called to the scene. A 34-year-old Thai man told police that the driver was his 33-year-old Thai wife, who has depression. He reported that they had argued in the morning, and their children were inside the pickup truck when she drove off. The man jumped on the tray and tried to stop her as she hit several vehicles along the way.
When they reached a traffic jam in front of a housing estate, the man asked a nearby security guard to use the ladder to hit the car’s window. However, his wife continued driving for 1.5 kilometers before the pickup truck was stopped.
The man told police that his wife was unable to control herself when she was angry. Thalang Police have yet to determine if any charges will be pressed against the female driver, who her husband claims has a mental health problem.
