A man was arrested after a video of him carrying the rifle in public went viral on social media.
A video clip went viral in local social media on Saturday (February 8th). A male teenager appeared to be seen in the video clip carrying a rifle in the middle of two female teenagers.
The Wichit Police told the Phuket Express that they went to the male teenage suspect’s home with a search warrant. He was arrested with a Remington Rifle 12. The rifle had been legally registered by his elder brother. He was taken to the Wichit Police Station to face charges of illegal possession of a firearm and carrying a firearm in public without permission.
He told police that his sister was arguing with another female teenager and he was trying to stop both of them but failed. He decided to take out the gun before they stopped. He claimed he did not intend to hurt anyone.
Due to his age, his name has been withheld.
