Resort Fire in Karon Alarms Foreign Residents

Fire engulfed a resort in Karon last evening alarming foreign residents on Friday (February 7th).

Fire fighters at the Karon Municipality were notified of the fire at 6:00 P.M. at a resort on the Laem Sai Road. They arrived at the resort with six fire engines to find lots of smoke covering the area.

The Karon Police told the Phuket Express that the fire was quickly brought under control with no injuries reported. Staffers from the resort used fire extinguishers to put out the fire while waiting for firefighters.

The resort has in total 79 rooms. The fire started from a storage room on the fourth floor where it was damaged by the fire. The fire did not spread out to nearby residence rooms. Residents were evacuated to a safe area outside the resort. The total cost of damages from the fire is being investigated as of press time.
