UPDATE: Man Fined 2,500 Baht after Firing Gunshots in Rassada

Rassada –

A 36 year-old man was fined 2,500 Baht after firing gunshots during a noise dispute with his neighbor at a housing estate in Rassada, Phuket City.

Our previous story:

The suspect, identified by police only as 36 years old man, told police that the nearby neighbor in his house was making loud noises, disturbing his young child who could not sleep. He fired three gunshots into the air from the second-floor balcony. The suspect was taken into custody but was later released, although it wasn’t clear immediately why.

Now for the update:

The Phuket City Police released a formal press release on Sunday (February 2nd). They stated that the suspect has admitted to the charge of opening fire in public without proper reason. Police did not find any criminal records of him in the Royal Thai Police System. He was fined 2,500 Baht.

Police stated that the gun has also been legally registered. He also has a permit to use the gun for the Volunteer Defense Corps. However, police will ‘suggest’ to the Phuket City District Office to withdraw the registered gun and the permit he used for the gun for him.

The Phuket Express noted many people know who the suspect was as the issue has gone viral in social media in the past week but police did not mention any more details about him.
