Myanmar Worker Killed at Thalang Construction Site After Dispute

Thalang —

At 8:26 AM on January 29th, 2025, Thalang Police in Phuket responded to a fatal stabbing at a construction site in Si Sunthon. The victim, Ka Aye, 28, a Myanmar national, was found lying on a metal-cutting machine with a deep wound on his right neck. He was still clutching a red lighter in his hand.

Investigators quickly arrested the suspect, Myo Nyein, 35, at the scene. A co-worker, Soe Soe, reported that the two had an ongoing dispute over a past motorcycle accident. The specifics about the dispute, however, were not released to The Phuket Express.

The argument reignited that morning while they were scanning in for work, leading to Myo Nyein allegedly slashing Ka Aye’s throat with a knife, according to the police.

Local authorities have taken Myo Nyein into custody at Thalang Police Station for further legal proceedings. The victim’s body has been sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy.

Mr. Nyein did not immediately release a statement or a plea and it was unknown if he had obtained the services of an attorney as of press time.
